Please note that we will not be updating this page again until the end of August. Have a great summer!
Students will be bringing home various multiple choice activities to complete each Monday. These multiple choice activities will help students prepare for the variety of multiple choice questions asked on EQAO, while also reviewing subject specific skills. This homework is due the following Monday, except if the Monday is a holiday or a PA Day, in which case it is due the Friday before. For Easter Weekend and Family Day Weekend, this homework is due on the Thursday before the long weekends.
To help teach students about how to answer multiple choice questions in class, both of our classes will be participating in a special Twitter chat every Monday using the hashtag #mcmondays. We’ll be tweeting out multiple choice questions, and students will work in groups to answer them and tweet out their responses. Other students from around the world will also join in on this Twitter game, where we mix both competition and learning.
Every Monday evening, we’ll use Storify to collect the tweets, and we’ll post the Storify link on this section of the website. Then you can see the multiple choice questions that the students answered in class, as well as the different answers that students gave. Talk about these various answers with your children. Discuss how they know which ones are correct and which ones are incorrect. You can use these same multiple choice questions as additional review of the subject material taught in class. Remember, it’s not all about the answer, but understanding the answer and learning from mistakes!

Next Step: Look at a Level 3 answer and the descriptive feedback to see if this is a Level 3 or Level 4 answer and why. We’ll continue working on this as part of our new Multiple Choice Mondays routine.

There will be no Multiple Choice Mondays the week of June 3rd-7th because of the PA Day and EQAO.
Important Note
Now that EQAO is over, we’ve talked and decided not to continue with Multiple Choice Mondays. We would rather spend additional time in the classroom working on reading comprehension and writing skills, as we think that our students would benefit the most from this. This Monday homework will then stop for the rest of the year, but the other weekly homework will continue. Please let us know if you have any questions about this.
This sounds so fun, Aviva!! I have a Class Connect session at the live time on Mondays, but I’ll be checking on this project. 2 thumbs up!!
Thanks Jena! We were hoping to make answering multiple choice questions a little more exciting. 🙂
